The Marygrove Office of Urban Leadership, in collaboration with the Gentleman’s Roundtable, a Marygrove student organization, hosted an event, Intercultural Communication on Campus and within a Global Environment, designed to support the growth and development of emerging urban leaders. Guest speakers for this event were highly-trained professionals in the areas of intercultural communications, public relations, professional development, youth development and community empowerment. Speakers included: Jacqueline Northrop, Chief Consultant, Scarlet Communications; Reverend Dr. Dee Dee Coleman, Pastor of Russell Street Missionary Baptist Church and Marygrove alumna; Jah’Shams Addul-Mumin, Executive Director of Success, “A New Beginning,” Inc., Los Angeles, CA and Edmund Lewis, Director, Minority Males for Higher Education. Over 50 Marygrove students and staff attended the event which featured male and female only sessions, a keynote address and dinner, as well as a panel discussion with a question and answer session. The event culminated with a student mixer.
